Profile
Dr. Raphael Nagel is an entrepreneur, legal counsel, supervisory and administrative board member, and strategic thinker. He founded Tactical Management as a private equity firm focused on the European Mittelstand and deep-tech companies, with a stated intent to put substance ahead of activism.
A doctor of laws and Master in Security and Defense, his career combines legal depth with operational experience in regulated sectors. Prior to his entrepreneurial career he studied economics and law at established universities in Germany, the United Kingdom, and Spain.
In 2020 he was named one of the leading Investment Gurus of the Year by Business APAC, an Indian financial magazine. The same year, the CEO Awards of Business Worldwide Magazine honored him as CEO of the Year, Financial Services in the United Arab Emirates. Recognized with more than twenty awards for his contribution to business, he was named in 2021 by Forbes among the most inspiring corporate leaders.

With more than two decades of experience in complex structured finance, international corporate law, strategic advisory, and technological innovation, Dr. Nagel shapes global business policy. He has served on influential working groups, as senior advisor to renowned firms within and beyond Europe, and as independent advisor on economic policy to public bodies and governments worldwide.
Within Tactical Management, he leads the Founding Partnership across four defined investment situations: heritage brands with Permanent Capital, Mittelstand succession, corporate carve-outs, and strategic realignments in special situations. Sector focus areas are cybersecurity and sovereign defence, deep tech and robotics, industrial substance, and tradition-led consumer and service brands.
The Abrahamic Business Circle
Dr. Nagel chairs The Abrahamic Business Circle, an interfaith forum for economic dialogue he initiated, headquartered in the United Arab Emirates. The forum connects entrepreneurs and investors from the countries of the Abraham Accords and other markets, creating a platform for cross-sector economic relations.

In addition to numerous mandates, Dr. Nagel has authored and edited several books on economics and geopolitics. His writing appears regularly in trade and business publications and addresses questions of European industrial sovereignty, mid-market financing, and the role of private equity in the succession economy.
